The 20 Worst CEOs

Portfolio magazine may be dead, but its website is still up and running. Here is an interesting story from portfolio.com: The 20 Worst CEOs in history. I think Merrill Lynch’s Stan O’Neal should be ranked higher than 18th. After all, he was at the helm when Merrill went way long subprime. See our December 2008 excerpt of Chain Of Blame about how Merrill blew up. “O’Neal’s message to Merrill’s mortgage department was clear: Go after the subprime business. Be number one. By 2004 Merrill began to move up in the ABS league table rankings. . . .”
